Due to the growing populations of Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties, St. John West Shore Medical Center decided to expand their services and increase their campus size to accommodate the growth. MCM Company was hired to provide Master Plan Implementation as the Program and Construction Manager. The multiple projects were completed in phases and strategically completed based on the need to provide better patient care. The projects included in the Master Plan were renovation of the Labor and Delivery Unit, which was phased and completed while patients occupied the space. The renovation of all of the In-patient nursing units were completed utilizing a phased schedule as no more than one unit could be taken out of service at a time. The Emergency Department was renovated and a fast track area was added. Diagnostic Radiology and Laboratory were also re-design to receive new state of the art equipment. The most significant project included in the Master Plan was the addition of 20,000 sf and the renovation of approximately 10,000 sf of existing space to create two new Heart Catherization Labs and support space, a new Endoscopy Suite, a new state-of-the-art Heart Surgery Operating Room, Operating Room designed for heart surgery, and a 26 bed Cardiac Care Unit.

Due to the size of the expansion and how it related to the existing facility, an infrastructure upgrade of the electrical service, chiller capacity and oxygen farm was required to meet the future needs of the Hospital. The complexity of the project was increased due to the need for a multi-phased construction schedule to minimize disruptions to patient care.

In addition to managing the multiple construction projects, MCM Company also provided turn-key Program Management Services that included Equipment, Furniture and Move Coordination.
